Upwork, formerly Odesk, is a perfect online platform for freelancers looking for work online. How to use the services offered on the site? How to find contracts compatible with your skills? Here is an article to know everything about Upwork!

What is Upwork?

Upwork is a new version of Elance-oDesk. Founded in 1999 in California, Elance-oDesk has quickly distinguished itself by the quality of its services on each continent. Under this name, we could find two excellent platforms:

Elance: an online service reserved for professionals looking for freelancers for all types of jobs (editors, translators, web marketing specialists, graphic designers …).
Odesk: a service for freelancers looking for customers.

Although the competition was quickly installed on the web, Odesk was able to enjoy a partnership with prestigious companies such as Walt Disney, Microsoft or Panasonic. Thanks to these powerful companies, odesk quickly gained popularity, attracting more and more freelancers. It was in 2003 that Elance-odesk changed its name by bringing the two services together; the Upwork website has been up and running since then to attract even more providers on the web.
